Realised that I'd never posted my American Girl toy service dog in training. He's a cute chocolate lab in a blue jacket.

Cats and Cat

Garage sale find today: another FurReal. (Does three make a collection? I had Pony and a white tiger cub already.)

This is a ginger and white cat apparently introduced in early 2009.

Not only still workng but with batteries left in, so as soon as I got home I found out the actual cats' reaction: puzzled interest and much sniffing, followed by ignoring.

I had the FurReal cat on my lap as I tried to find the manual online. After a while of being ignored, she meowed. So that's realistic, then!

The Wikipedia piece on the FurReal toys is mostly about the ponies. I am amused by: "However, many children are disappointed when they wish for a real pony and receive Butterscotch, since it does not walk or trot when it is sat on. Also, it is not as realistic as advertised, because of the loud gear noises and the fact that it does not really eat its carrot."

Neat things

We went into the City of Rancho Mirage Public Library. It's very big and well-appointed. There's a painted ram in the hallway (one of the around the city art things I assume).

Then, just inside the library entrance, an aquarium. There was a binder with photos, species name, and first-person descriptions of the fish. Fun.

The books had spine stickers for all the genres pretty much, I saw at least YA (which clearly included stuff kids have to read in school, as in the section there was The Martian Chronicles and lots of Dickens), Westerns, and Science Fiction.

I admired some glassed-in shelves for a local authors collection.

Much further down the road, tonight went for Japanese food. (Amusingly to me Graham couldn't face the full length of the trip without.) Adventurously, I ordered a drink listed on the menu as Marble Soda. (I got strawberry flavour.)

Complicated to open and many instructions on the bottle. There actually is a marble in there, trapped by the shape of the neck.

So I was happy with that!

Ponies in vehicles

Applejack's truck is fun. There's a little peg on the roof so I perched Spike up there.

Made a pony train with the truck in the middle, Rarity's carriage hooked behind, and Pinkie Pie's car pulling.

While I haven't got the scanner properly uncovered yet (for one thing, I kept being distracted by putting books in boxes) I did finally take a photo of some G3 My Little Ponies I got in Seattle.

Line of My Little Ponies

Clockwise: Starcatcher, a G3 baby (barely visible under the poof of hair), McDonald's Scootaloo (Ponyville, I think), a yellow fakie, two more McDonald's ponies (Minty and Scootaloo again) and a Cherilee (I think) I haven't actually identified yet.

The girlcat started nomming on Starcatcher's hair. I guess she too likes tinsel.

The My Little Pony remote-control car this household acquired yesterday is awesome.

Pinkie Pie drove around the living room (with Applejack and Fluttershy in Rarity's carriage, once it was my turn to borrow from the herd) and incidentally bothered the cats.

I expect to get Applejack and her truck sometime in the future, though her not having her hat in that set is a sad thing.

I picked up the Ponyville Ferris Wheel, not expecting but hoping they'd fit my McDonald's set of Friendship is Magic ponies. (If those didn't fit, I figured, I could put in whoever I have by way of smaller pony figurines, or Care Bears.)

But they did fit!

I took a video: Applejack, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and Rarity on the ferris wheel.

Twilight's in front of it all on Princess Celestia's stand.

In a thrift store today I made two Hasbro finds: first, a little yarn-haired Rainbow Dash in need of a bath. She is now in the laundry and I hope she comes out of the wash okay.

Also, a Transformer I could identify as Beast Wars, bat lizard-y something, clearing missing at least a chest plate sort of piece but I got him anyway. Poked around the Transformers Wiki until I found him: Mutant Beast Wars Soundwave. Mine can never fully be an alligator as I don't have his snout. Oh well, I do like the bloodthirsty bat face.

Edited to add:
Rainbow Dash came out of the wash and dry in fine shape. With one of my bigger plush Ponies:
