I've sort of started packing for Rainfurrest, in that I've put a particular especially warm sweater into the backpack I'll be taking. (The con hotels are usually cold, presumably so the fursuiters don't overheat.)

Con and words

Other than getting the con crud I enjoyed Rainfurrest and the trip.

It was bracketed by fic (Jukebox and Fic Corner) so that was lovely.

Friday done

Yesterday included doughnuts for breakfast before setting out to the con.

We swung through the art show and the dealers den (that is large and actually there are maps on tables as one goes in).

I went to the guests of honour concert largely for Alexander James Adams. Couldn't properly hear most of his Puss In Boots song as the instrument balance in the sound system was far too loud, but I'd enjoyed that one at the last concert of his I was at.

Animals All The Same will appropriately be stuck in my head for days.

Out to dinner post-concert we bumped into a bouncy pink creature who remembered us from Furlandia. I said to her perhaps I should have brought my fish after all.

There are. by the way, coloured and slogan ribbons to stick onto attendance badges so I am indeed ignoring clothes colours. (But keeping an informal tally of Woot shirts.)

Haven't run into GreenReaper as yet but there are things for Flayrah among the dropcards on tables and I belive he is around.

A newsletter from Rainfurrest showed up in my email today. I am side-eyeing their attempt to colour-code attendees.

A quote:
You can help us all celebrate by showing us what the furry fandom really means to you! We have identified some of the biggest topics that furries express within the fandom and have made it fun and easy to identify these topics. With COLOR!

• Artwork - Red
• Costuming - Blue
• Performance - Purple
• Writing - Yellow
• Social - Green
• Gaming - Orange

How about you show us YOUR colors?

Are you a musician or a dancer? Wear a purple shirt and show everyone!

I must be extra sure to pack my striped arm warmers. Enough colours to confuse matters!

Completed con

I ditched the pony panel early (being a crowd singing "Smile Smile Smile" twice in the first fifteen minutes didn't excite me) and wandered around the con some. Listened to a game of On the Ecology of the Mud Dragon. Reasonably fun way to wrap up last afternoon at the con.

Followed by going into Seattle and checking out the University Book Store while still wearing my sparkly tail. There were a few Filofaxes (alongside many Flex covers) and I petted the couple of Maldens. So soft.

The cashier complimented my giraffe pack.

New things

I paused by the props and other items table that at Vancoufur I got my catfish from. They asked if I was still enjoying the fish. I replied "Absolutely," and showed them that I've now got him a badge. (Sweet art tag from Onnanoko.)

There was a particular tail at their table that really caught my eye (and felt soft). So I petted that, considered, handed over cash, and now have a new tail.

Wildly not my own character's colours (this new tail is light pink and has silver tinsel) but if I don't think of another explanation, "transporter accident" will do!

Now adjusting outfit to have new tail. Other accessories: Fluttershy pendant, Applejack hairclip. I'll at least look in on the pony social event.

Went to the con long enough to register around lunchtime, went into Seattle for lunch, then once back wandered the con at a relaxed pace.

I was checking out the Dealers Den while carrying my fish under my arm. Someone behind a table was all "Why are you carrying a trout... oh, catfish." I said cats have whiskers, catfish have whiskers... natural friends.

Because this weekend is the con and con means a new badge.

Me with my catfish. Pencil, ballpoint pen (blue and black) and white gel pen on blue card.
Spotted cat with large tufted ears is standing with a plump catfish in her mouth. Done in black and blue on bright blue, with white edging.

Nights booked for Rainfurrest, although the con hotel is sold out and we settled for a known factor nearby. (A not insignificant factor being that I like the restaurant.)

I haven't picked a sticker to put on that page of my calendar yet. Earlier this month (so a bit later than truly middle of the year) I changed to week a day pages in my Filofax, and I'm enjoying the settup. Smaller pages are more exciting to decorate with little stickers, it seems!
