Rather fun that I got a book through BookMooch today: from North Pole (Alaska, USA).

I've just set myself On vacation at BookMooch. I can't cope with feeling invested in it today, not with all the fiddling about being done (see the BookMooch blog) and the attitude that's coming across from the guy who does the the site.

There is some good discussion on LibraryThing.

Finally got a small pile of BookMooch packages mailed out.

Still surprised how often those Dragonlance books get mooched.

Bah, recieved two books from BookMooch and the condition leaves something to be desired.

New homes for things

All Fur Fun was great...

Met and re-met cool people.

Another person had brought his new XO so we yacked about them and failed to get them communicating.

Meanwhile, of my nine pieces I displayed in the art show, six were bought and have gone to new homes, which thrills me almost beyond talking about.

The above's a minimal report and a few days late, but there you are.

I've hardly started the morning and a big package of romances have come to me from a BookMooch deal. I shall briefly go out of vacation mode on the site to mark them all recieved.

Various romances

Thinking about my perpetual lack of bookshelf space, I'm working on my shelf of not-yet-read romances. After all, only reading will identify which to keep and which will go up on BookMooch.

I've nearly finished Only A Duke Will Do, which I like. The characters have arguments about contraceptive sponges!

Tonight I was reading, and greatly enjoying, The Diaper Diaries by Abby Gaines. Very funny indeed.

"Okay, if you think you can handle the nighttime stuff..." She shrugged. "I guess with your dating history you're used to not getting much sleep. But those middle-of-the-night diapers are the worst. Just make sure you buy a couple of gallons of very strong bleach and three pairs of rubber gloves. Oh, and have you had a rabies shot?"

Was she suggesting he could get rabies from the baby? He stared at her, aghast. She looked back at him and there was nothing more in her blue eyes than concern for his well-being. Which made him suspicious. But he wasn't willing to take the risk.

"Fine," he said, "you can move in."

The local library system has been open again since last Wednesday. It's a sign of how nastily with cold hit me that it was Monday before I made a library visit, but I did, finally, and released pent-up local library urges with a haul of a round dozen books.

I've also been getting hold of books (some borrowed, some booksale) from the not-so-local library, and received a lot from BookMooch, which I continue to joy in. I'm now at ten books given and 20 received, with a couple more in the mail on their way to me. A very enjoyable mix.

I dreamt that a royal person of Australia or some such not-nearby country cut the corner off one of my books. I grabbed his hair, shoved him down to the carpeted stairs and sat on his neck. Satisfying revenge and the book was a replacable paperback I figured I could get someone in the embassy to cough up replacement money for.

For BookMooch

With the excitement of BookMooch (which I just discovered earlier this month and am distinctly excited about), I've been going through my pile of not-keeping books, and then my actual shelves, looking for books to offer.

In the process of this, I found a genre romance novel I have no memory whatsoever of acquiring, although as it has a blacked-out library barcode sticker on the front, I can only assume I got it on impulse from the for-sale cart at the local branch, or from a library booksale.

I read through the prologue of Celebrate The Child by Amy Frazier and found the sentence "Like a heat-seeking missile, the news sought to destroy the very foundation of his manhood."

I've put the book up on BookMooch.

Today I mailed off my very first mooched-from-me book (a withdrawn library copy of Catfantasic) and made another request, this one coming some 50 miles from somewhere in Washington state.
