In doing some tidying of shelves (going through books and knick-knacks, and wow is my giraffe collection dusty) I found a small notebook with one drawing in, from 2009.

Mother bovine (I intended bison but wasn't somewhere where I had any reference images) holding her sleeping baby. Done in pencil.
Anthro' bovine cradling her sleeping baby.

(Subtitled: working on that backlog of things I saved to post.)

Interesting crossover of topics: art, disability, and anthropomorphism.

I read this item in In the Picture: FAQs - Scope UK

Most of our characters are personified animals. How can disability be portrayed accurately and sensitively in these cases?

Where animals are personified in picture books they tend to wear clothes; this means that they should also be able to wear accessories associated with disability. There may be some problems with the difference in body shapes between animals and humans and accessories may need to be adapted to suit.

The Children in the Picture website section where I read that FAQ has a list of books, an image bank, and illustrations by Quentin Blake!

Art: Adventurers

One more piece that I had in the VancouFur art show.

Anthro Gray Fox in a green cloak in front of a whiskered blue dragon.

Titled "Adventurers", this is an anthro' Gray Fox standing with a blue dragon. I patterned the dragon on a catfish.

Pencil, Prismacolor pencil crayons, and black fineliner pen on green paper.

Now in a purple mat for the art show, this is something I drew in 2001. Anthro' Wolf inspired by Blair Sandburg of The Sentinel.

Anthro grey-brown wolf with long wavyy brown hair, seated, wearing a colourful patched vest and worn jeans.

Pencil crayon on cardboard.

Art: Mouse

On the same mottled pink paper, this is an anthro' mouse. I intended her to be a Yellow-necked mouse but took some artistic license with the extent of browny-yellow in her fur.
Anthro mouse, lying with her nose hidden behind her arm. She has grey-brown fur with yellow edging to with on her sides and legs. Background is mottled light pink with grey-vilet shadows.

Pencil, Prismacolor pencil crayons, black fineliner pen, and white gel pen.

For the Vancoufur art show. Will be in a light pink mat.

Laminated badge I did of a Mink:
Portrait (head and upper chest0 of a grey-furred anthro' Mink with grey-white hair, blue eyes, and pink nose and inner ear.

Pencil, ballpoint pen, and small additional pieces of paper (blue, pink, and white) on off-white cardstock.

Meanwhile, I found my ereader tucked away behind my scanner. (It became visible when I cleared the pile of paper off the top of the scanner.)

One last drawing from the con. This is from silly conversation over dinner on the last day. There was mention of a zebra with a lobster loincloth.
Art... )
The only materials I could reach were a ballpoint pen (blue) and napkin (grey-brown).

I was excited to see the the unofficial Vancoufur shirt from Kitty Loves Monster.

At the con, their booth in the Dealers Den had some brightly-coloured sticky notes and markers put ready for people to draw things on, with the intent they be used in the design. This was on Saturday.

Of course I drew my fish (and a furry hand grabbing for it).
Furry hand with curved claws grabbing a whiskered fish. Black outline on orange background.
(Pencil and black Sharpie marker on bright orange sticky note.)

Within the shirt design that Kitty Loves Monster did is the monster holding my fish. My deliberately generic clawed furry hand (probably but not necessarily feline) works as a monster hand.

I was thinking of pre-ordering the shirt when I saw the in-progress design a day or two ago, but I'm not nearly so sure about the final one: too many words for my taste. Though "Otters gotta ott!" is something an Otter who was trying to get my fish said to me.
